An anticlimactic update.

Yesterday, I awoke at 5 a.m. to a fairly large contraction. It was stronger than the Braxton Hicks contractions that I've been having for the last month. I tried to fall back asleep, but these contractions kept coming every five minutes. Woo-hoo! Consistent, regular contractions. Time to go to the hospital.

When we got to the hospital, they hooked me up to the monitor. Because my contractions were regular (two minutes apart), they admitted me. When they first checked my cervix, I was only one centimeter dilated. After walking for hours, and waiting, and waiting some more, I only dilated to one-and-a-half centimeters. Because I am only thirty-eight weeks along, and because I DO NOT want Pitocin, I opted to leave the hospital and go home to rest.

I went back to see my doctor this morning. I am now three centimeters dilated, but my contractions have slowed down. I am hanging out at home, walking, cleaning, waiting to have some more strong, regular contractions.

I really, truly appreciate your well-wishes and support, so I wanted to keep you posted. I don't mean to complain, but I am SO ready to have this baby. I feel like I have pregnant for years. This is probably because I found out I was pregnant when I was a mere five weeks along. Also, I was only pregnant with Rhys for eight months, so I'm not used to this "full-term" nonsense that you other women speak of. But I am so incredibly blessed to be pregnant, to have had a healthy pregnancy, and that very soon, I will have a daughter! A feisty, stubborn daughter who insists on doing things on her terms. I wonder where she gets that.

Yeah, Athena didn't want to come out either. Now I have a daughter that if she doesn't get her way she slaps drinks out of my hand.... seriously.... she did that yesterday.

Oh boy! Your daughter reminds me of Sophia. Girls definitely have a mind of their own.

Sounds like she'll be coming soon. She just wants to catch you off guard....

Best wishes!

Oh goodness. First off, thanks so much for giving us the play-by-play. I've been thinking of you all day.

During my morning cheerio's I said to Craig, "I bet Lori's having her baby right now."

I clearly was wrong and am in no way clairvoyant.

I hope Baby Girl M. makes her debut soon.

HUG.

Last night, I had a dream that I met you, your husband and your son at some type of sporting event. (no clue...maybe football?) Anyway, you were sitting in front of us, and I said, "Hey TWIT?" (hahahaha!) And it was you!

I then asked where the baby girl was, and you turned fully around and still had not had her yet.

Clearly one of my rather random dreams, since I don't even technically know you.

I hope that things start moving along soon!

If it does resort to pitocin, know that the horror stories you hear aren't always true. I enjoyed it immensely! :)

But sounds like things are moving along. I HATE HATE HATE the last month. My kids were both past due and I was sure they were camping in there forever.

I feel for you. Best wishes. Can't wait to see her! (in pics, of course)

Thanks for the update! Yeah, I was thinking of you too Friday as we were in Columbus. I had wondered if you were holding your little baby girl, but obviously your little girl decided she wasn't ready :)

Still thinking of you!!
